#5 Jimmie Women Beat Rival, Valley City St. in Conference Opener


With the Jimmies leading scorer, Heidi Fiechtner on the sideline due to an injury, Mara Paulson (pictured) and Allison Epping stepped up and helped lead the Jimmies to a huge win over conference rival, Valley City State. Paulson scored a career high of 24 points and a career high of 11 rebounds, going 7-12 from the field and 10-10 from the free throw line.


The Jimmies led the majority of the night, including 40-37 at the half. JC opened the second half on a 14-2 run which gave the Jimmies a 15 point lead. This was a crucial run as the Vikings chipped away throughout the second half, but the Jimmies finished strong and held on for a 72-67 win.


Ali Edwards scored a season high off the bench with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Kellie Schuneman added 12 points and 5 assists, and Allison Epping had another strong outing with 10 points and 6 rebounds.


The Jimmies, 9-2 on the season, take on Minnesota Morris on Wednesday night at the Civic Center. To read more about the game witht he Vikings, go to:
